Managing a multi-location inventory can be complex, but with Valet Seller’s order sync feature, you can streamline your operations and ensure that orders are pulled from the right location every time. Here’s how to get started:
Step 1: Configure Your Locations in Shopify
Before syncing with Valet Seller, ensure your locations are set up within your Shopify account. The number of locations you can have is determined by your Shopify subscription:
- Shopify Starter: Up to 2 locations
- Basic Shopify: Up to 1000 locations
- Shopify: Up to 1000 locations
- Advanced Shopify: Up to 1000 locations
- Shopify Plus: Up to 1000 locations
Note: Inactive locations do not count towards this limit. You can check your current location usage on the Locations settings page.
Remember that inventory-managing apps, such as dropshipping apps and third-party logistics services, count as locations but do not contribute to your location limit. Some apps support multi-managed inventory, allowing you to split inventory management between store locations and the app.
Step 2: Define Your Fulfillment Rules
If you operate multiple active locations, you need to define how your online orders are fulfilled:
- Single Location Fulfillment: Set one location as your default and restrict others from fulfilling online orders.
- Primary Location with Backup: Choose a primary location for order fulfillment and designate additional locations for backup if the item is out of stock at the primary location.
- Customized Fulfillment: Set up shipping profiles in your shipping settings to determine fulfillment based on specific products and locations.
- Dropshipping or Fulfillment Services: If you exclusively use these services, no changes are needed for your locations. The default address is set as your store’s location but is not used or shown to customers in this scenario.
For in-store purchases via Shopify POS, inventory is used from the sale’s physical location. For shipped orders, online fulfillment settings will apply.
Step 3: Integrate with Valet Seller Account
Once your Shopify account is configured, it’s time to connect with Valet Seller:
- Step 1: Sync Your Shopify
- Log into your Valet Seller account and synchronize your Shopify store to ensure that all location data is up-to-date.
- Step 2: Enable Order Sync
- Activate the order sync feature to start pulling orders from your specified Shopify location.
- Step 3: Select Your Location
- Use the dropdown menu to choose the Shopify location you want Valet Seller to handle. We recommend naming a specific location (e.g., ‘Valet Seller Warehouse’) for clarity.
By linking a named location, Valet Seller can also manage inventory sync for that warehouse, allowing automatic inventory adjustments directly from our application.
And that’s it! With these simple steps, you can efficiently manage orders and inventory across multiple locations. For more information or assistance, visit our support center or contact our helpdesk.
